From March 8 to April 30 you can visit the new exhibition in Sala Alfajar. New and exclusive ceramic pieces created by the family that owns Alfajar.
Alfajar’s new creations fill Sala Alfajar, colorful, expressive and spring-like. The exhibition will be open from March 8 to April 30, next to the Cathedral, at C/ Císter, 1, door 2, Málaga.
Alfajar’s color pieces allow compositions of an expressionist nature, crafted individually with absolute compositional and chromatic freedom. The “watercolor” effect of the pigments masterfully applied by the brush allows each piece to come to life and each angle of it gives a different vision to the observer. Ceramic pigments in a practically unlimited chromatic range are applied to a bisque body, finishing with a transparent and shiny glaze fired at 980º C.
The shapes are inspired by traditional vessels from the different cultures of the Mediterranean: Etruscan, Iberian, Mycenaean, Muslim, Greek and Roman, with a geometric stylization of the silhouettes, simplification of the volumes and structures. In this exhibition the inspiration also comes from Altamira, from the cave paintings, from life in the caves, from the artistic forms of expression of our ancestors.
Alfajar is a family business integrated by José Ángel Ruíz, Lola Díaz and their daughters Diana and Paula. They have been dedicated to ceramics and art since 1992, when Alfajar was born. A contemporary vision of traditional ceramics, combining past and present, creating a unique and unmistakable style. All pieces are handmade and hand-painted, taking care of each stage of the process from creation to marketing.
