From January 3rd to February 17th you can visit the new exhibition at Sala Alfajar. Sagrario Azcona brings us whispers of colors with her new paintings.

Works that speak directly to the heart fill Sala Alfajar. The exhibition will be open from January 3 to February 17, next to the Cathedral, at C/ Císter, 1, door 2, Málaga.

Although the shapes are simple, the importance of the colors, including white, are the personal signature in each work of the artist. Always experimenting with different materials, as a way of expression, and through her art “releasing emotions, stagnant energies, or feelings of all kinds.” She has lived all kinds of personal experiences that are reflected in her painting, learning to accept and understand.

Sagrario uses painting as a way of healing, not only on canvas, but using all kinds of supports and materials (glass, fabric, wool, silk, etc.). Throughout her life, expressing herself through colors has helped her manage emotions and express them in something physical, a cure for the soul. White has accompanied her from the beginning and has never stopped being present in her work, like a purifying light. Painting is a form of conversation, like words, “making the unconscious conscious through matter.”

“Painting has been present in my life since childhood. In 1984 I was lucky enough to meet my first painting teacher, Buldaín, who taught me to create from within myself. Everything that came after was imbued with that spirit.

Significant learning steps in my pictorial career have been the School of Arts and Crafts of Pamplona, Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic of Valencia. To these are added a multitude of specialized courses in techniques such as engraving, ceramics, Chinese painting, calligraphy, nuno, shibori, textile art, floral dyeing, among others. All the teachings received have opened creative possibilities for me to express myself with different materials and techniques, combining silk, wool, Japanese paper, textiles, flowers, natural dyes, iron, with a clear and deep sense of exploration of myself.

I invite you to go inside, to feel.”
