In order to promote the exchange of experiences in the field of Contemporary Ceramics, Alfajar organised a Spanish- Russian Symposium of ceramists in the summer of 2018.
For fifteen days, ten Spanish and eleven Russian ceramists, selected and invited by Alfajar, lived together in Alhaurín de la Torre. During this artistic coexistence they made ceramic works in our workshops.
The activity of the participants was not limited to ceramic work. Alfajar programmed and carried out a series of visits to natural places of interest such as "El Caminito del Rey" and to the Russian, Fine Arts and Archaeological Museums, Pompidou and Picasso's Birthplace Foundation, with the aim of cultural dissemination among our guests, who said they had a great impression of our environment.
A selection of the works produced was exhibited in the El Portón de Alhaurín de la Torre gallery in Malaga and the following year in the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo gallery in Granada.
The background to this experience was the participation of Lola Díaz and José Ángel Ruiz in an International Symposium held the previous year in the Russian city of Checboksari, to which they were invited.
