Escultura de mujer tumbada (Lying woman sculpture) is made on a stoneware slab with the silhouette of a female nude in various positions. The surface treatment on both sides is unique to each piece, handmade with iron, manganese, cobalt oxides and ash glazes, combining wax reserve and sgraffito techniques. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is finished in a single firing at 1250\u00ba C in an oxidizing atmosphere. Each piece includes the handwritten signature of its author, as a unique work, 100% handmade in Malaga, Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The beauty of Escultura de mujer tumbada (Lying woman sculpture)<\/span><\/h3>\n

Through the different stages of art history the female body and its interpretations have been one of the most used motifs in the elaboration of paintings, sculptures and photographs. In these works we can observe the ideals of beauty and feminine aesthetics through symmetry, the order of forms, the use of curved lines and the precision of the author to represent the female body in each historical moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The female portrait shows the beauty of nature associated with muses, nymphs, divinities that arouse veneration and fear at the same time. In the collective imagination, they represent the expression of feminine attributes and constitute an eternal source of inspiration. In Alfajar we always keep in mind the beauty of the feminine, varying the way of representing it in different ceramic supports and materials.<\/span><\/p>\n

After 30 years of experience, we can assure that the objective of Alfajar is to express the inner relationship of each person with the world, and therefore, with the nature around them. In this case through sculpture, transferring that relationship with the world to a round shape and with the wide range of bottles and vases we have.<\/span><\/p>\n

The shapes are inspired by traditional vases from the different cultures that once populated the Mediterranean: Etruscan, Iberian, Mycenaean, Muslim, Greek and Roman, although treated with a coherence of style that implies geometrically stylized silhouettes and a simplification of volumes and structures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cubism and expressionism also play a very important role in our work. Our intention is to achieve that synthesis between the simplification of classical Mediterranean forms and the avant-garde of the 20th century, in this case applied to sculpture.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ceramic plate in the shape of a woman on an iron stand.
