Escultura cabeza II (Head sculpture II) with a round shape represents a woman’s face with stylized lines, painted on two sides, and presented on a black lacquered wooden base. This piece is made of stoneware and its surface is individually treated with iron, manganese and cobalt oxides, under an ash glaze, using a mixed technique: wax reserve and sgraffito, executed manually and fired in a single firing at 1250\u00ba. C. Each piece receives an individualized surface treatment that makes it a unique and unrepeatable work, with the handwritten signature of its author.<\/span><\/p>\n

The female portrait shows the beauty of nature associated with muses, nymphs, divinities that arouse veneration and fear at the same time. In the collective imagination, they represent the expression of feminine attributes and constitute an eternal source of inspiration. In Alfajar we always keep in mind the beauty of the feminine, varying the way of representing it in different ceramic supports and materials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Escultura cabeza II (Head sculpture II) is a unique piece.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Alfajar imaginary of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures together with the pure abstraction of lines and colors adapt perfectly to the different shapes and sizes. We can find from the mythical bulls, to the classic plates, bottles or jewelery boxes. An infinity of shapes that will fill your home with warmth. All these pieces are made 100% by hand in Malaga, Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

After 30 years of experience, we can assure that the objective of Alfajar is to express the inner relationship of each person with the world, and therefore, with the nature around them. In this case through sculpture, transferring that relationship with the world to a round shape and with the wide range of bottles and vases we have.<\/span><\/p>\n

The shapes are inspired by traditional vases from the different cultures that once populated the Mediterranean: Etruscan, Iberian, Mycenaean, Muslim, Greek and Roman, although treated with a coherence of style that implies geometrically stylized silhouettes and a simplification of volumes and structures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cubism and expressionism also play a very important role in our work. Our intention is to achieve that synthesis between the simplification of classical Mediterranean forms and the avant-garde of the 20th century, in this case applied to sculpture.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sculpture with a woman’s face on a wooden base.
