Donut alto (Tall donut) has a unique surface treatment, handmade with iron, manganese, cobalt oxides and ash glazes, combining wax reserve and sgraffito techniques. It is fired in a single firing at 1250\u00ba C in an oxidizing atmosphere. The entire process is completely manual and carried out in our Alfajar workshop by the hand of our artisans. Each piece has the handwritten signature of its author.<\/p>\n
We can observe the variety of shapes in container design throughout history. In Alfajar, the legacy of the typologies of ceramics from Ancient Greece survives today, evolving in form and decoration, marking the style of an era. The Alfajar imaginary of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures together with the pure abstraction of lines and colors adapt perfectly to the different shapes and sizes. We can find from the mythical bulls, to the classic plates, bottles or jewelery boxes. An infinity of shapes that will fill your home with warmth. All these pieces are made 100% by hand in Malaga, Spain.\u00a0After 30 years of experience, we can assure that the objective of Alfajar is to express the inner relationship of each person with the world, and therefore, with the nature around them. In this case through sculpture, transferring that relationship with the world to a round shape and with the wide range of bottles and vases we have.<\/p>\n
The shapes are inspired by traditional vases from the different cultures that once populated the Mediterranean: Etruscan, Iberian, Mycenaean, Muslim, Greek and Roman, although treated with a coherence of style that implies geometrically stylized silhouettes and a simplification of volumes and structures.\u00a0Cubism and expressionism also play a very important role in our work.
